UP, India Villagers Rescue Crocodile, Demand Ransom of Rs 50,000

The interesting incident occurred in the village of Midania, east of the city of Lakhimpur in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Realizing that there is a crocodile near the village, the villagers sought help from wild animal rescue teams. The people of the village, who were waiting for the officials to come for two days, caught the crocodile themselves when the teams did not come. The villagers demanded a ransom of 50 thousand Indian rupees (5 thousand TL) from the local government for the crocodile tied with a rope.

Indian official Anil Patel said, “They demanded 50,000 Indian rupees from us to drop the crocodile. They refuse to give the crocodile. They think they have the right to money because they caught the crocodile themselves.” After hours of persuasion with the help of police teams, the villagers left the crocodile back to nature, Patel said.
