Internet in Pakistan Disrupted Due to Submarine Cable Cut
Pakistan National Telecommunications Company (PTCL) said in a statement on Twitter that technical teams are working to re-provide internet service as soon as possible.
In the statement, it was stated that the internet outage was caused by the malfunction in the international submarine internet cable, and it was expressed that they were sorry for the trouble.
In addition, the statement pointed out that working with international institutions to determine the cause and location of the failure.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) also shared on Twitter, it was noted that the internet outage caused by the malfunction also affected the check-in processes.
In the statement, it was stated that the passenger’s can check-in from the counters at the airport, so they are sorry for the delays in the flights.
According to details shared with ProPakistani, the SEA-ME-WE-5 went offline earlier today due to a flaw that was developed near Cairo, Egypt.
Not to mention that SEA-ME-WE-5 carries much of Pakistan’s Internet traffic. It has a design capacity of 24 Tbps, which basically meets almost half of Pakistan’s international bandwidth needs.
Internet companies are in the process of communicating to customers about service problems, as the submarine cable has gone offline.
