SoftBank Introduces Next-Gen Robot Waiters in Japan

Known for its developments in robot technology, Japan attracted attention again with robot waiters

A cafeteria serving in Tokyo, Japan, serves and entertains its customers with robot waiters named Servi and Pepper. Cafe officials state that the robots working with the staff give their customers an interesting experience.

At the café, robots named Pepper greet customers, measure their temperature, and remind them to wear masks. In addition to these abilities, Pepper robots can chat with customers and interact with customers through games and activities by coming to the tables.

Servi robots serve food to customers in the cafe. Servi robots can carry the food orders prepared in the kitchen to the customers’ tables and overcome the simple obstacles they encounter. SoftBank Robotics, the manufacturer of the robots, stated that they hope robots will reduce labor expenses, ease the workload of employees, and get a better service for customers.
