After MJ, TP. Already the broadcaster last spring of a highly regarded documentary series on Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls (“The Last Dance”), Netflix is offering from this Wednesday a film – only one episode this time – on another big name of the NBA. A French name: Tony Parker, the leader in 1,254 games in the North American league, four championship rings with the Spurs, and six All-Star Game selections.
Directed by Florent Bodin (“Le K Benzema”), the documentary “The Final Shot” traces the career of William Anthony Parker II, a small build who thwarted forecasts and overcame some serious injuries to reach the top. “I knew the sacrifices it took to become a professional basketball player and make my dreams come true. I had to show that I had no fear and that you could win a title with a European leader,” said TP.

In addition to his relatives, many ex-teammates or opponents of Parker appear in The Final Shot, such as Pau Gasol, Tim Duncan, or even Kobe Bryant, interviewed before his tragic disappearance in January 2020. The former star of the Lakers confides in front of the camera have learned a few words of French just to “tease” TP on the NBA floors.
Note that Parker, now president of ASVEL and leader of an academy, co-produced the film via his Infinity Nine Media box.
