Jaguar will become a 100% electric luxury brand from 2025. This is one of the main decisions of the new strategic plan of the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) group, presented this Monday by the general manager Thierry Bolloré, former number 2 from Renault.
From 2024, Land Rover will also launch a 100% electric model. “Over the next five years, Land Rover will welcome six 100% electric models to consolidate its position as the world leader in luxury SUVs through its three families, Range Rover, Discovery, and Defender,” the group said in a statement.
Go towards zero emissions
Jaguar Land Rover also wants to invest in the fuel cell. The tests of the first hydrogen models will take place this year in Great Britain. “By this time, in addition to the all-electric Jaguar range, the target is that 60% of Land Rover models sold will be equipped with zero-emission power units,” the group announces. Jaguar Land Rover plans to become a carbon-neutral company by 2039.
The group, which belongs to the Indian Tata Motors, intends to invest 2.5 billion pounds per year but warns in a statement that its transformation will lead to a significant reduction in its non-production activities in the United Kingdom.
